Colorado/Wyoming International Cake Exploration Societe
The International Cake Exploration Societe (ICES) was founded in 1976. It is now the largest cake decorating club
in the world having approximately 4,000 members. There is an annual convention to display beautiful sugar art. A
variety of demonstrations on techniques and methods, both innovative and tried-and-true at beginner through
advanced levels are offered. The convention has the very latest in cake decorating products, tools, and supplies
from international vendors. There is an opportunity to meet and talk with vendors, professional sugar artists, and
authors of books about the confectionery arts.
Colorado and Wyoming began with an organization called the Mile High Cake Club in the middle of the 1960s.
Colorado became a chapter of ICES in 1977. There have been many annual cake shows in the Denver area with
well-known judges and instructors participating.
Our Colorado/Wyoming chapter meets on a quarterly bases for meetings and ideas to share. We have "Days of
Sharing" three or four times a year. At these events the members meet other decorators, see demonstrations,
participate in cake contests and do other hands-on sugar confection activities. We volunteer at the Mile High Girls
Scouts Council to have the girls receive their cake decorating badges. Our cake show is held with the Home and
Garden show at the Colorado Convention Center entitled "Sweet Times in the Rockies" which is held in February.
We are always looking for new members who share our passion of cake decorating and sugar art. Our "Days of
Sharing" are open to anyone who wishes to join us whether you are a member of CO/WY ICES or not.
